Paducah Businesswoman Sandra Wilson Elected Board Chair of Kentucky Association of Manufacturers; Four New Board Members Also Named

Frankfort -- he Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has elected Sandra Wilson, a Paducah businesswoman, as its 2008 board chair and named four new members to the board of directors, according to Jim LeMaster, president and CEO of KAM.  The new chair and board members were approved at KAM’s annual meeting in Louisville.

In addition to Wilson’s election as chair, the following new members were elected to the KAM board: Linda "Inga" Jackson, plant manager for PPG Industries’ Architectural Coatings business unit; James Leonard, environmental compliance director for ISP Chemicals LLC; Mitchell Skaggs, director of Global Operations and Consumer Markets, Ashland Inc.; and Bob Spence, plant manager for Schneider Electric’s North American Operating Division.

Wilson, public affairs manager for NewPage Corporation (formerly Westvaco/MeadWestvaco), is only the second woman in the 96-year history of KAM to be elected board chair. She joined the company in 1986 and was promoted to her current position in 1991. Wilson is responsible for community relations, media relations, government affairs and communications for the Wickliffe Paper Mill. In addition, she serves as a legislative agent for NewPage in Kentucky

Wilson also serves on the boards of the Paducah-McCracken County Industrial Development Authority, Greater Paducah Economic Development Council, Carson Four Rivers Center, and the Ballard County Economic and Industrial Development Board.  She is also active with the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce as the Chairman of the annual Community Leaders Fly in to Washington, DC.   She is a recipient of the Paducah Area Woman of the Year and Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year awards and is a graduate of Leadership Kentucky and Leadership Paducah. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University.

"The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers has the leadership and strategies in place to leverage the size and power of our state’s manufacturing industry, making KAM uniquely positioned to help shape Kentucky’s destiny and move us forward," says Wilson. "That’s why I’m very excited about being board chair for the coming year."
