Corey King

The last couple of years have been full of change for Corey King.

After completing his service with the U.S. Navy, he moved back to Kentucky, landed a new job with Modine Manufacturing and is a new dad. His son, Jadon, was born this past November. Corey has taken all the changes in stride though, saying for the most part, he has had a “smooth transition”.

Originally from Louisville, Corey and his wife, Jessica, now live in Harrodsburg, close to her family and the Modine plant. After hearing the plant was hiring, Corey decided to “take a chance, learn something new and try a job in the cooling industry” and that chance has paid off. He is now a production operator in the mass flow division of the Peterbuilt line.

Modine is a worldwide leader in thermal management solutions and serves the automotive, heavy-duty truck, agriculture, construction and HVAC industries. The company has been a member of the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers since 1983.

Checking coils for leaks is Corey’s primary responsibility on the job. This process can be “time-consuming”; however, he says there is a lot of satisfaction in “getting production”, meaning meeting his quotas in both quantity and quality. He says quality and excellent customer service are both very important at Modine and he has seen the company make many "forward steps to improve processes and enhance leak testing in order to provide the best product.”

Although some might mistakenly think that manufacturing work is redundant, Corey doesn't see his job that way at all. “It is just not the case if you have a "go and get it attitude” he says. “People are what make the operation run” and at Modine they are “willing to teach and be friendly, which also helps with quality”, he says.

Corey is not afraid to take chances and learn new things outside of work, either. In his free time he is learning to play the guitar, trying his hand at gardening and of course, being a “very proud parent”, according to his coworkers.
